How PDLC Switchable Glass Works
PriWatt™ PDLC (Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal) glass consists of billions of microscopic liquid crystal droplets dispersed within a polymer matrix. When electrical power is applied, the liquid crystals align, allowing light to pass through and creating a transparent glass panel. When power is removed, the crystals return to a random orientation, scattering light and producing an opaque privacy effect—all within milliseconds.
The Science Behind It
PDLC glass contains billions of microscopic liquid crystal droplets embedded within a polymer matrix between two conductive ITO layers.
When electrical power is applied, the liquid crystals align, allowing visible light to pass through with high clarity. When power is removed, the crystals return to a random orientation, scattering light and creating an opaque privacy state while still transmitting daylight.
