PriWatt film in Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals’ New York office

Ipsen Biopharmaceuticals, New York · PriWatt PDLC film

A week, an occupied floor, and three kinds of room

Ipsen’s New York office is where its commercial and research teams work, which means the material on the table changes room by room and hour by hour: a pipeline discussion, a regulatory meeting, a negotiation, and then an ordinary Tuesday.

PriWatt switchable film was applied to the existing glass partitions and windows across the executive offices, the meeting rooms and the conference spaces. One week on site, worked around the office’s own day, with the film cut to each surface and the schedule agreed with the office’s designers.

What confidentiality means on a floor like this

Be exact here, because it is where the marketing copy for this product usually overreaches.

A room can be made visually private in under a second, from inside itTrue, and the whole function
Material on a screen or a table stops being legible from the floorTrue. Concealment on PDLC is around 98%; shapes and shadows do not read through
It supports a confidentiality practice the organisation already hasTrue, in the same way a door does
It ensures compliance with HIPAA or any other regulationNO. Compliance is a programme of administrative, physical and technical safeguards that a covered entity owns. A pane of glass is not a control regime and no supplier can sell one

The distinction matters more in a regulated industry than anywhere else. A privacy measure that supports a safeguard is genuinely useful and is easy to justify. A supplier claiming a product delivers compliance is a sentence that gets read back to somebody in an audit.

Glazed meeting rooms at Ipsen’s New York office with the film clear

A week on an occupied floor, and how that is possible

  • The film goes onto the glass in place, so nothing is re-glazed and no partition is removed
  • Work proceeds room by room, so one room is unavailable at a time, not a floor
  • Each panel is measured and cut before anything arrives, so site time is application and wiring, not fabrication
  • The low-voltage runs use the partition framing that is already there

The third is the reason the survey happens before the order. Film is cut to the opening at manufacture. A run of partitions that looks modular almost never is, and measuring each pane individually is what stops the last one being 8 mm short.

A conference space switched to its private state

Which rooms, and which mode

Executive offices, meeting rooms and conference spaces have one thing in common: their privacy requirement changes during the day. That is the test, and the reason circulation glazing and open-plan areas were left alone: a surface whose requirement never changes wants a fixed answer, in whichever direction.

On mode: normal-mode film is private with no power and clear when switched, which suits a room closed more often than open. A meeting room on a collaborative floor is usually the opposite case and is the argument for reverse mode: clear unpowered, drawing current only for the hour the door is shut. It is the first question on any of these projects, and it is answered as a behaviour, not as a product name.

A project like this one

A research or commercial floor where the confidentiality of a room changes with what is on the table. PriWatt manufactures in Pompano Beach, Florida. Every quote is worked from the project’s own drawings, so send dimensions. A photograph with the sizes written on it does the same job. Earlier than that, book the call.
