PriWatt switchable glass at asset manager Obra Capital
Investor briefings happen in rooms other people walk past
An alternative asset manager’s working day is a sequence of conversations that should not be overheard or read: strategy sessions, investor briefings, positions being discussed before they are taken. The rooms those happen in sit on a floor everyone else uses.
Obra Capital had PriWatt switchable glass fitted through its executive offices, conference rooms and private meeting areas, into the glass architecture that was already there: no structural change, and no window treatments added to a floor designed without them.
The control question in a finance office
PriWatt panels take five kinds of control and the choice is not cosmetic. On a floor like this it decides whether a room is private when it needs to be or merely capable of being private.
A switch by the door
Whoever walks in closes the room. Simple, and what most rooms should have. The failure mode is that somebody forgets.
A remote at the table
Whoever is chairing closes the room, without standing up in the middle of a sentence. On an investor call that is the difference.
The automation system
Rooms that close on a booking, a schedule or a scene, not on somebody remembering. This is the one worth asking about early.
All three are the same panel. They differ in what interrupts the low-voltage supply. Deciding it before the partitions are closed costs nothing, and changing it afterwards means opening framing.

On the numbers you will see quoted for this product
Switchable film and glass are routinely advertised with ultraviolet and infrared blocking percentages. Know how much confidence to place in them, because the same material is described with different figures depending on which page you land on: 100% and 98% in one place, 98% and 95% in another, "up to" those numbers in a third.
PriWatt publishes no percentage for either property, and this site quotes none. UV blocking is stated as what it is: a property of the film. Where a project genuinely needs solar performance with numbers attached to it, the product is different and the figures exist. DLC dynamic shading is specified for facades, and its transmission values are published in the technical reference.
This glazing went onto an interior partition, where none of it applies anyway. There is no sun on it.

What actually justifies it on a floor like this
- A room becomes private without anybody performing the act of making it private — no blind descends in view of the floor
- The glazing that made the plan work is still doing that job for the other seven hours
- Nothing is added to an interior that was specified without window treatments in it
- The state can be driven by a system rather than by memory, which is the only version that is reliable
And one thing it does not do, which matters more in finance than in most sectors: it is visual privacy, not acoustic. Sound is a property of the whole partition — the glass make-up, the head and sill, the junction with the slab — and it is specified per build-up. A room that must be unheard as well as unseen is a glazing conversation, and it happens before the switchable layer is ordered.
Specified on this project
PriWatt PDLC switchable glass
The switchable layer laminated inside the panel, made to the opening. Private unpowered.
Offices and boardrooms
Partitions, meeting rooms and executive offices — the application this belongs to.
Office partitions
How a glazed run is built: where the joints fall, and how one transformer serves a wall.
A project like this one
An investment floor, an advisory practice, or any office where the conversation in the room is the product. PriWatt manufactures in Pompano Beach, Florida. Every quote is worked from the project’s own drawings, so send dimensions. A photograph with the sizes written on it does the same job. Earlier than that, book the call.
