Smart Glass Privacy for Modern Surgical Suites
Observation walls that can close for a minute
The glass between the surgical suites and the spaces beside them is there on purpose: supervision, collaboration, teaching. The same glass leaves nothing private at the moment a patient is being prepared or a difficult conversation is happening on the other side of it. The requirement was privacy that does not arrive as fabric.
What a surgical environment rules out
Curtains collect what a sterile area spends its day removing. Blinds have to be touched, and every touch is a contact point in a place that counts them. Fixed frosted film solves the privacy by deleting the visibility the wall exists for. And a construction programme inside an operating hospital is the most expensive answer of all.

What was installed
PriWatt switchable film was applied to the existing partitions between the spaces. No glass was removed, nothing was demolished, and the department kept working through it. Each panel is controlled independently, so staff decide in the moment which part of the wall stays visible and which does not.
Why it suits a hospital specifically
Privacy without contact
The state changes at a switch on the wall. Nobody pulls a cord, adjusts a slat or handles a curtain, which removes a set of contact points from a room that is counting them.
A surface that can be disinfected
- Non-porous glass, cleaned the way the rest of the room is cleaned
- No fabric, no slats, no moving components to trap anything
- Compatible with the sanitation routine already in place
Daylight kept either way
Privacy does not have to mean darkness. The film turns the wall opaque without turning the light off, which matters in a building where daylight is understood to affect recovery and the people working long shifts in it.

The outcome
Observation and privacy now share the same wall. The suites stay bright, sterile and visually open, and close instantly when the situation asks for it, with no curtain to launder, no blind to wipe and no area taken out of service to install any of it.
