Switchable Glass in Los Angeles

Los Angeles

What PriWatt supplies into Los Angeles

PriWatt manufactures switchable glass and film in Pompano Beach, Florida, and has supplied it into Los Angeles and the wider Southland since 2016 — a corporate headquarters, a bank, a Beverly Hills shopfront, a car collection, an ocean-front villa. Panels ship crated. Installation is by partners, or by the glazier on the job.

The west-coast work is markedly more retail and residential than the New York work, and glare comes up about as often as privacy does. If solar gain is part of the brief, ask about the version that goes dark instead of frosting white; there is more on it under overhead glazing.

The range

Glass, insulated units, and film for glass already in place

Three ways to buy the same switchable layer. Which one a project needs is decided by whether the glass exists yet, and by what the room should do with nothing switched on.

Per sq ft
Laminated switchable glass — private with no power$78 – $115
Laminated switchable glass — clear with no power$120 – $165
Insulated unit for an outside window$140 – $230
Film applied to glass already in the building$65 – $75

Ranges, not quotations. Where a project lands inside them comes out of the opening sizes. The full table, with every measured value, is on specifications, and what moves a number up or down is on pricing.

Getting it there

Made in Florida, delivered to Los Angeles

Coast to coast is the longest haul on this site. It is still a schedule: the panel is made, wired and tested on one line before it leaves the building.

Shipped crated from the plant

Lead time for switchable glass is 30 days from the settled specification, and the quote carries a delivery date, not a range.

Sun as much as privacy

Glare and solar gain change the specification: the darkening version goes in instead of the frosting one. Same panel build, different film.

Installed through partners, or supply-only

Film goes onto glass already fitted; a laminated panel is glazed like any other laminated panel. Either route is normal here.

For architects and specifiers

Everything a drawing needs, before you draw it

Switchable glass reaches most drawings as the words "smart glass" and reaches site as whatever could be sourced. The documents that close that gap are published, and they come from the company that makes the panel.

Fitting PriWatt in Los Angeles

A laminated switchable panel is glazed like any other laminated panel, and film goes onto a pane that is already fitted. The low-voltage side is a defined scope; the mains supply belongs to an electrician. Companies that already do this work are who PriWatt installs through.

Join the installer network

Four partner tracks, because an installer and an architect arrive with different first questions.

Or bring your own glazier

Supply-only is normal. The panel schedule and the shop drawings go to whoever is fitting it.
